My latest (possibly greatest?) project was the result of being invited to an extremely fun party. We knew ahead of time to bring trinkets to trade, but I was blown away by how creative everyone was with the things they made and collected! I made these little steel leaves, which definitely got a bit more refined as I went along. Since the party was fairy-themed and steel isn’t traditionally a great gift for the fey, this also seemed like a good time to try out heat bluing for that added otherworldly effect.
The first wand I made (seen below in my hand) was mostly made on a whim to see how it turned out. It was so much fun to make that I’ve decided to make them a regular project, and the three below were given as birthday gifts at the aforementioned party. Each has a combination of heat bluing and brass brushing, which I think contrast in a really cool way.
